Home Again, Home Again

On our last day in Florida, we had a bit of time to kill before our flights left so with Ben and Mara we headed to Downtown Disney to check out what was there.  Our car thermometer read 104.  It was sweltering to say the least.  We decided to eat at Gloria Estefan's restaurant for lunch.  I think Jade coined our experience well when she took a bite of her meal and said, "Well, this is a different kind of yucky."  So hilarious.  It made for a fun memory and a great laugh.  We then went to the New Orleans resort to get a beignet.  They left a little to be desired as well but again, quite memorable.  We said our goodbyes to the Gardners and headed to the airport.  Little did we know but this day turned out to be one of the longest days of our lives.  We were a lot too early for our flight so the girls took the opportunity to clean their filthy feet with wet wipes. Pretty sure this is totally inappropriate behavior for a public setting, but it happened.

Even wiping down the filthy flip-flops.
Jaren and Tyce were quite restless so Nathan and I took them on a walk to run around in a nearly empty terminal.  When it was nearly time to board the plane, we headed back to check on the girls.  Just as we get to this very crowded lunch area, Tyce decided to turn toward me and throw up everything he'd eaten over the last 12 hours.  So here I am, looking at this father/daughter pair who are watching on in complete horror. When he finishes his business, I run to the bathroom not really knowing what in the heck I'm going to do since any clean clothes I own are now in my checked bag.  Ahhh!  Luckily, Libbie had all her clothes in a carry-on and was sweet enough to share with her sad mother.  And luckily I had packed an extra outfit for Tyce as he was covered in barf as well.  We quickly got as clean as possible and got on the plane.  I'm so grateful his puke-fest wasn't an illness because that would have made the next 12 hours even more miserable.  Yep, I said 12 hours because that's about how long it took us to get from Orlando to our house.  We passed through lots of bad weather that delayed our flights, made us take detours to Minneapolis, had to make a pit-stop to refuel, and all sorts of wonderfulness.  We were on one plane for 7 hours.  7 hours.  Me with Tyce in the middle seat by 2 unamused strangers for 7 hours.  It was a complete nightmare that I hope to never relive.  It made coming home oh, so sweet.
Excited to be headed home...before all the depression and claustrophobia set in.
Jaren turned out to be a pretty good little traveler.  Thank the Heavens for the invention of the IPad.
