Then we headed back to the condo for some downtime before church began. Sleeping Queens and Ratatat Cat.
Finding the church ended up being somewhat of a nightmare but we made it in time and most of us got to enjoy the speakers. Nathan was on naughty child patrol in the hall and then in the car. Ugh. Somethings don't even improve on vacation in paradise. After church we drove a far piece to Waimea Canyon. It was very impressive.
Quick stop for a picnic. And we even had the luxury of knives and napkins this time.
Much to our children's disdain, we decided to go on a hike to see the canyon a little more up close. Smile Libbie and Mallory...pretend you love to hiking!
And after we made it to the first overlook, Nathan and I outvoted the rest of the kids and decided to continue to hike to another view point. We had some MAJOR grumpy people in tow, but isn't this how meaningful memories our made? Parents torturing their children?
When we were nearly to the viewpoint, we could see how steep and high it really was. It also didn't include any sort of handrail. We decided to just send Nathan to check it out. He got several comments on his hiking/running attire as he made the ascent to the peak. Who doesn't hike in slack and a long sleeve button-up?
After the hike we drove to the overlook of the Napali coast. This had to be my most favorite view of the island. I'd love to get a little more up close and personal with this area if the time arrises. Breathtaking!
A favorite picture of Libbie and Tyce.
On our way back home we stopped at this swinging bridge. Scary. Claire and I wimped out and didn't go across but everyone else did.
Then back to the beach for sunset and sand. It just doesn't get old. Even if Mia does think she's too old for a picture of her playing in the sand.
Cutie bug saying hi.
