Dad sat by the crazies from SLC to LA. Then we switched things up and Jaren sat by the older girls, while the younger girls fought over who would have to sit next to "the stranger" in the third seat on their row. Ha ha.
Aren't they precious.
We got to the island quite late and were really just ready to be tucked in bed. However, the rental car place always has different plans for us when we get to our destination. After a long time of confusion between the company and Nathan, they arranged an 8-passenger vehicle for us. We got to the car, loaded everyone in and then began to load our belongings. One of the kids called out that one of the 8 seats wasn't actually a seat at all...it was a center console. AHHH! So we unloaded all our crap (see picture below) and waited for more some more confusion between the car company and Nathan. They finally conceded and gave us a 15 passenger van, and we were on our way.
Of course the kids were up at the crack of dawn Hawaii time, but not so much on Utah time. Libbie was kind enough to deal with the boys for the first part of the morning. They went outside to check things out, but were quickly rebuked by a neighbor for being too loud. We like to make an impression everywhere we go. Anyway, this was the view outside our back patio. These golf course views seem to be a theme with everywhere we stay...a bit of torture for Nathan since he never has gone and enjoyed it.
A morning round of Sleeping Queens.
After a quick shop at the grocery store for some super expensive goods, we headed out to get the lay of the land. We stayed in Poipu on the south shore. First stop was to see this blowhole. OOOO, AHHH.
We really struggled to find a beach the kids would enjoy. This beach worked, sort of, for a short time. We couldn't ever quite decide if we were allowed to be there so we moved on rather quickly.
But not before unloading all our beach gear, getting wet, and trying out our new seaview snorkels.
There weren't too many fish here, but they some a few things.
We moved on to Keiki beach on Poipu. It was a much better fit for our family, and we ended up spending many hours on its shores.
For dinner the kids chose pizza so we cleaned up and headed to this joint Brick Oven Pizza. Not the same chain as the one in Utah :)
Someone had the grumpies.
To keep the kids entertained, the restaurant offered them some wheat pizza dough to play with. Here are Mia's and Mallory's creations.
