Kauai - last day

Why must these things come to end? But alas, it did.  Our final morning, Nathan and I got up early for a quiet bike ride to a secluded beach.  After some time, we had to hoof it, but we got to enjoy the sunrise together.  Pretty spectacular.
After we got back from our ride, we took the kids to the beach for a final splash, got packed, and raced to a river boat tour of the Waimea.  We made the tour by the skin of our teeth.  And then it started raining, and it didn't stop until we left the island.

Jaren's giant leaf/umbrella at the Fern Grotto.
The tour guides to the history of the Fern Grotto, the river, sang songs and danced. They even asked us to sing with them and then compared us to the Tabernacle Choir after learning we were from Utah. Ha!  Good one!

We had some time to kill before our dinner reservation at Dukes so we went to this other dirty, wet playground.  You can see Mallory and Mia trying desperately to take a photo of chickens with their poloroids.
Dinner at Dukes didn't end up being as good as it was for Nathan and I on Oahu.

The kids did love their Hula Pie though.  Look at Jaren's overflowing mouth of whipped cream!

And still more time to kill before out flight.  We ended up at Ross for some unknown reason and wreaked havoc on their shoe section.  See Tyce?  Drama, Drama, Drama.

The flight home was a red-eye and not many of us slept much but everything went off without a hitch. Always a blessing!  This is everyone in the car on the way home.  Zombies.  I'm so thankful I got to take this trip with my little/big family.  I know these experiences bring lasting, meaningful memories.  Even when we are driving each other absolutely mad.  Where should we go next?
